Curlew at Ferry Point

image.png

The curlew is a brown buff coloured bird that has dark green legs and a long bill
which is curved downwards. This long downwards curved bill allows curlews to dig
for earthworms; they also eat grasshoppers, beetles, spiders, crabs and shrimp.
Curlews weigh about 700g-1000g. They nest in grass lined hollows in fields,
marsh lands or moors. When curlews migrate they fly in a v formation and they
also fly in a straight line.
