Tunnel to Table

The Tidy Towns Association gifted us a poly tunnel last year. we are very grateful for it. We are beginning to hone our gardening skills. We planted lettuce plants and potatoes during the 2020 2021 school year.

We have had a bit of fun over the past few weeks turning our potatoes into homemade chips. To inculcate sustainability, into our thinking, we kept skins on. Children harvested, washed, chopped and did the cooking. A wonderful aroma wafted around the schools and the chips were delicious.

The children have planted leeks, chives and beetroot in the past few weeks. We are hoping that they will have a better understanding of where food comes from and that they learn some important life skills too.

Although bags were big and portions were small, all were happy.
